Purleigh CC History

Purleigh Cricket Club was founded in 1970, subsequently entering the T Rippon Mid Essex League on a Saturday, where it has played ever since with a peak in Division 2 in the early 1990's. Having initially played friendlies on a Sunday, the club also had a successful spell in the North Essex League for 10 years. A midweek T20 team (Ye Olde Devils) was introduced in the 1990's.

Whilst the club no longer fields a Sunday team (in common with a lot of other cricket clubs), the Saturday and midweek teams continue to thrive as the club pushes towards it's 50th anniversary in 2020.
